Everyone has their formula in which inspiration stems and grows from, and for Chef Don Macarthur, being in the kitchen is something that keeps him going - fueling that inspiration. Of course he has other outlets as well, but as he systematically makes magic happen in the kitchen, you can tell that more than just hard work goes into his creative and flavorful dishes. A chef at The Kitchen in Fort Collins, Colorado, Don finds joy in the simple things like pouring olive oil and watching the colorful ingredients come together as people admire the combining tastes that have been so thoughtfully crafted together.
Chef Don Macarthur developed his passion for cooking after he was 18 years old and went off to live in New York City. “Whenever a chef comes back from a big city like New York, we are completely inspired to create something great,” Don says. He is an artist with his food at The Kitchen, and collaborates with the other chefs to truly create an experience that is developed from the farm-to-table restaurant and the concept of ‘food through community.’
I had the pleasure of capturing Don in action at The Kitchen, as he expresses his love for food and where it all came from. Through a few days of photographing this photo story, I was able to experience the back-of-house kitchen flow and be a part of Don's alluring cultivation of beautiful food.
It's the simple things - like olive oil.
Thank you Chef Don, for your inspiration in the kitchen.
